Qatar Rail is leading one of the largest rail projects in the world to meet the demands of Qatar’s dynamic and growing population. The world-class railway network will consist of Doha Metro, a rapid transit system connecting communities within Doha and its suburbs. Qatar Rail expects to offer 600,000 passenger trips per day by 2021. By then, 37 metro stations are expected to be complete, with an average journey time of two minutes between adjacent stations.

 

In preparation for the full roll out of the project, Qatar Rail have commissioned a fully functional mock up station to be built and put into operation. ESI were selected to provide the lighting controls for the mock up station, which system was successfully commissioned last week. Controlling more than 300 DALI bespoke architecture and functional light fittings, in combination with DMX driven fixtures, to dim and change colour temperature according to pre-defined scenes and according to the time of day.

ESI also provided an interactive and dynamic graphical user interface.
